Mobile phones and the industry that`s been built up around them are seemingly recession-proof, which is testament to their versatility and constant evolution as well as to our own obsession with keeping up on the newest gadgets. In the UK we are particularly susceptible to the lure of the latest handsets and there are more mobile phones in use than there are citizens in this great union. This is partly fuelled by the fact that getting the latest handset doesn`t have to be expensive as most are offered free on monthly contracts which reduces the initial costs and opens up a world of exciting technologies to the general public. Since most mobile phones come with multi-million pixel cameras, rivalling stand alone digital cameras, there are many people who keep a record of their life in pictures on their phone. However, to make your mobile photos as memorable as possible there are a few quick mobile photo tips to follow. Consider these as guidelines rather than strict rules, especially as mobile phones are all about breaking down boundaries and liberation, but they`re a good place to start. Light Conditions - The key to a good mobile snap is lighting. If your mobile phone has a flash then that`s a good solution, but where possible try and take snaps with the best possible natural lighting for your subjects. This will avoid washed-out, over exposed shots caused by harsh flashlight as well as grainy, blurry and dark shots caused by a lack of good lighting. Image Resolution - most modern phones allow you to minutely adjust every aspect of the picture taking capabilities, so making sure that you`ve selected the right resolution for the job is essential. If you`re trying to capture natural vistas, urban landscapes or large groups then ensure you`ve got the maximum mega pixel setting selected as you`ll want to preserve all the details and this setting won`t necessarily be chosen by default. Now, one phone which has been criticised in the past for its frankly sub-par picture taking capabilities is the Apple iPhone. However, with the release of the iPhone 3Gs things have become much improved. First there`s the way in which you focus on your subjects. Simply tap the screen on the area which the camera should focus and it will adjust to your tastes. Then there`s the improved mega pixel count, up to 3.2 from 2 and finally the ability to send your pictures to your mates as MMS messages, which was lacking from previous iPhone models. The iPhone is one of many multimedia smart phones that put photography on their list of priorities, but with Samsung releasing the first 12 mega pixel camera phone recently there`s seriously stiff competition coming their way. Nokia, LG and Samsung all have 8 mega pixel camera phones with feature other multimedia functions like GPS sat nav, large internal storage capacity, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity for fast web access and much more, which really squeeze Apple`s core demographic.
